Alamo/National Kiosks
Here is an overview that was posted in the National Group:
The Kiosk essentially allows you to check in without going to the counter and standing in line. It is a basic three step process:
1) Check in at the Kiosk using an automated system.
Requires to you swipe your drivers license and your credit card then follow a three step process. Remember to decline insurance if you do not need it. This process can be speeded up slightly by filling in the save time information beforehand.
2) Pick out your car from the assigned aisle (e.g. Compact aisle etc).
At most Kiosk locations, Alamo and National allow you to select your car from the aisle corresponding to your reservation. Reserve a compact; select any compact you like from the compact aisle.
3) Show your rental agreement and drivers license at the exit booth.
The process is quick and painless. We like it because you can use coupons with it, plus you can do other cool stuff such as add drivers or upgrade and you don’t get hassled by counter staff.
The whole process can be completed in 5 minutes. According to the Alamo/National sites you require a credit card but we have heard of many people using major debit cards (Visa, MasterCard) with no issues.
